WELCOME
In February 2005 is founded on the initiative of visual artist Adri A.C. de Fluiter the Foundation Natuurkunst Drenthe. Motive was his experiences with former art-in-nature projects on several locations on the globe. In his opinion is the province Drenthe by means of her varied nature and cultural historic past (hunebeds, menhirs, planted forests, peat bogs, canal etc) a dedicated environment to realize the aims of the foundation.
ThemesThe symposia has each year a specific theme connected to the cultural history of the region. In 2005 it was the old legend of Ellert and Brammert. In 2006 the theme is ‘Still Water’. Based on the dramatic history of the Oranjekanaal (Orangecanal) digged with enormous efforts in the nineteenth century for the use of the peatindustry and never functioned as it was foreseen.
ApplicationArtists interested in participation at future art-in-nature symposia are invited to apply by sending documentation and cv. After consideration they will eventually added to the list of potential participants and will get all the information with a demand for a proposal. Invitation for participation is based on the documentation and a concrete proposal. There is no deadline, application is on going. Information can be sended by email to

NL - 7841 EP SLEENObjectiveThe objective of the foundation NatuurkunstDrenthe is to organize one or more public areas for organizing every year one or more art-in-nature symposiums. The aim of the foundation is to increase the attention of the public for this worldwide trend and also contribute to the experince of art and nature.
The foundation is trying to realize this aim by collaborating with other partners and institutions which attach great importance to this issue to. This partners can be: land owners, government, communities, leisure centres etc.
EntranceThe official opening of art and nature walk The Legend was on the 1st of June 2005. From the 2nd of June till the 1st of November 2005 there is free entrance from sunset till sundown.
